From February 12-15, 2024 (Monday-Thursday), there will be 31 Yetis waiting to be found throughout Miller building. Scan the QR code for each Yeti and answer the questions correctly to gain points. The top 5 winners with the most points accumulated from all the Yetis will win an *exclusive* prize.

Each Yeti represents an office, program, or resource offered by the 爆走黑料. We hope that whether you're a current undergraduate student looking into our graduate programs or a current graduate student seeking for more resources, this scavenger hunt will not only be fun but useful for your time in the College (and beyond!)

Some quick rules:
  • Please do not remove nor move the Yetis from their locations.
  • Each participant can only answer each Yeti form once. Entries before the start of the event (Feb 12, 2024 at 9:00 AM) and after the event (Feb 15, 2024 at 4:00 PM) will not be counted.
  • To earn points, answer questions correctly. Each question is worth one point. There is no penalty for getting a question wrong. 鈽猴笍
  • There are 31 Yetis scattered throughout the CoE building, and each Yeti correlates with a unique QR code. Scan the QR code to access the checkpoint form to answer the questions. Not all forms have the same amount of questions and points available though!
  • Anyone is welcome to participate in the event to learn about our college but to qualify for winning a prize, you must be a current UW 爆走黑料 (CoE) student by the start of the Winter Wonderland event on February 12, 2024.
We hope you have a wonderful time with this scavenger hunt! (Don't forget to swing by our office on February 14, Wednesday for some too!)

Every year, the UW ABA program invites a scholar from another university or part of the country who we believe is doing exciting or thought-provoking work in Applied Behavior Analysis to come visit our program. The scholar meets with faculty, talks with students, and showcases their own scholarly work through a presentation to both students and BCBAs from the broader Puget Sound community.

This year, Michele D. Wallace, Ph.D., BCBA-D will present Roots to Revolution: Exploring the Legacy of Functional Analysis Methodology and Its Exciting Future!

Dr. Michele Wallace earned her doctorate from the University of Florida in 2000 in the Experimental Analysis of Behavior. She is a Full Professor, the Master of Science in Counseling Option in Applied Behavior Analysis Program Coordinator, and the Program Coordinator and Coach for the Success Program in the Early Entrance Program at California State University, Los Angeles.

Roots to Revolution: Exploring the Legacy of Functional Analysis Methodology and Its Exciting Future!

The efficacy of behavior analytic services is dependent on the ability to predict and control the future occurrence of behavior, irrespective of trying to teach, modify, or reduce a particular behavior. To do so, one must identify the environmental variables of which behavior is a function, in the words of B. F. Skinner a 鈥渇unctional analysis鈥 (Skinner, 1953). A methodology to accomplish this goal with respect to interfering behavior not only has strong roots but has evolved over the last 42 years. This presentation will explore this legacy of evolution and will provide a window into not only evidence-based practice in the assessment of interfering behavior but will provide a selection tool to guide practitioners on how to join the revolution to guarantee an exciting future.
