UW ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ ranked #8 in nation

U.S. ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ & World Report has ranked the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ No. 8 among the nation's best education schools in its annual graduate school ratings, released March 16.

UW ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ again ranked No. 2 among education schools at public institutions in the U.S., behind only the University of Wisconsin-Madison (at No. 4 overall) in the 2017 edition of the U.S. ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ ratings. This is the third consecutive year that UW has been ranked second among public institutions by U.S. ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ.

Dean said the ranking highlights the College's commitment to deep partnerships with schools and communities that address persistent opportunity and achievement gaps.

"We believe that all children deserve access to high quality public education," Tuan said. "The future success of our community, state and nation rests on our ability to unlock the full potential of every child. The College's faculty, students and graduates are dedicated to working with educators, families, policymakers and community members so we can make this a reality."

U.S. ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ sent surveys to 376 schools granting education doctoral degrees, with 255 providing data that the publication used to calculate rankings. Measures include quality assessments based on surveys filled out by education school deans and deans of graduate studies, student selectivity, faculty resources and research activity. For the second consecutive year, four UW education specialty programs were ranked among the top 10 nationally. UW's ranked programs are:

Three of the four programs rose in the specialty rankings this year: Education Administration and Supervision, Elementary Teacher Education and Special Education. 

Unlike the overall rankings, specialty rankings for the various programs are based solely on nominations by education deans and deans of graduate studies who were asked to select up to 10 programs of excellence in each specialty.
