Licensed Childcare Center Assistant Teachers

If you have school-age childcare programming experience and enjoy teaching young minds, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has a role for you as a Licensed Childcare Center Preschool Assistant Teacher in Seattle. We have This is a year-round, full-time position starting January 2024.

ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. In this role, Licensed Childcare Center Preschool Assistant Teachers will share their talents with the community and teach children ages 3-5 years old during the preschool program. Our programs are a part of Seattle Preschool Program and provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.

Location: Ballard Community Center, Alki Community Center (at Schmitz Park Elementary), Bitter Lake Community Center

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday up to 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm

Licensed Childcare Center Preschool Assistant Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Assists the lead teacher with leading daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 3-5 years old
  • Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth
  • Ensures a ratio of 1:8 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and accounted for
  • Reports to the Associated Recreation Council Licensed Childcare Center Director

Licensed Childcare Center Preschool Assistant Teacher Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have High School Diploma minimum hiring requirement
  • Initial certificate (12 credits) in ECE is preferred 
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children between the ages of 3-5 years old in a recreation or preschool setting
  • DCYF requirements to be completed after hire to include providing MMR vaccination record, TB skin test, MERIT portable background check and WA state food worker's card etc.

Pay Rate: $22.00- $22.83/hr+ DOE
