UW ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ students teach, undertake internships and other fieldwork, partner with faculty on research, all to prepare them to work in private, charter, and independent schools, community-based advocacy organizations, non-profits, educational support companies, policy and research centers, museums, academia, state and federal government, hospitals, scientific research centers, and more.

Education Policy, Organizations, and Leadership (EdPOL)

The EdPOL program is a master’s and doctoral program that allows students to work with nationally and internationally recognized faculty to learn about and improve the research and practice of education policy, organizations, and leadership. As part of the EdPOL M.Ed. program, students work to address the pressing problems in U.S. education that are essential to creating equitable learning opportunities. From early childhood to K-12, and postsecondary education, this program emphasizes the importance of addressing racial, socioeconomic, language, ability, and other social identity disparities. Learn more.

Measurement & Statistics (M&S)

The M&S program is a master’s and doctoral program that prepares students to become leaders in the research and practice of cutting-edge psychometrics and applied statistical modeling. During this program, students develop the skills to design and conduct rigorous research, which can be applied to research in education, health sciences, and behavioral and social sciences. Students enter this program from diverse academic backgrounds, including those with degrees in economics, education, engineering, mathematics, psychology, sociology, statistics, and more – and with a range of incoming professional experiences, from early career to advanced. Learn more.

Learning Sciences and Human Development (LSHD)

The LSHD program is a master’s and doctoral program that focuses on the nature and interaction of learning, development, and culture in a variety of settings. As part of the LSHD program, students study learning and development where it happens — in families, communities, workplaces, and schools, from pre-school to college. LSHD students and faculty work at the state, national, and international levels with a shared focus on equity, and a commitment to improving the lives of real people throughout Washington and the world. Learn more.

Teacher Education

Our Teacher Education programs prepare students to create meaningful learning opportunities for all learners. Each of our Teacher Education pathways include extensive experience in poverty-impacted schools, mentoring from master teachers, and the latest research-informed teaching practices. Learn more.

Financial Aid

At the UW ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ, we are dedicated to making the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ an option for everyone, including underrepresented populations, international students, and people with unique challenges on their path to a graduate education. Your financial aid package may include financing your graduate education through a variety of options, including scholarships, grants, and federal loans.

Social Justice and Equity at the UW ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ

At the UW ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ, we believe that every person deserves an outstanding education, and we believe in creating a responsive curriculum dedicated to continued innovation.

As the global COVID-19 pandemic began, the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ began to examine the pandemic’s impact on education and learning, as well as the role education can play in shaping a society’s response to inequities and social justice. 

±¬×ߺÚÁÏ faculty, students, and staff began to reevaluate the inequities of these systems, further advancing the College’s mission of creating more just and equitable societies. Through this process, the ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ was able to create not only a more equitable college, but one that is also committed to continuously transforming its curriculum and courses to reflect a changing society.
